We all dream of hot summer days: and so they have arrived, but perhaps a little hotter than we would all wish. As we know it can all be a bit oppressive, and maybe we need to stay indoors to escape its intensity. Added to that, we need to keep ourselves hydrated by drinking plenty of water or whatever quenches your thirst. I know for some that is not easy, so my message is to look out for the vulnerable to make sure they are cared for.
We all need water to sustain us and it is one of life’s necessities, but that not all is this world have the privilege of being able to turn the tap on to access good clean water, to drink or for washing. I for one, support a charity that helps install clean water facilities across that world where families rely on potentially contaminated ponds, rivers, and lakes to obtain their water supply.
As Jesus attended the wedding in Cana of Galilee, he was able to turn water into wine when the supplies ran out at the celebration – I’m sure most would wish to have that ability – it was the first of Jesus’ miracles that gave everyone an indication of who he was, and of what he was capable. It is a miracle we refer to today at weddings: that Jesus showed that he endorsed the institution of marriage, but also that he can change the ordinary into something that is special. In our lives we can, by believing in Jesus, be transformed into something special as his disciples.
Enjoy the sunshine, stay hydrated and put your trust in Jesus Christ.
