Graham’s Weekly Message

I hope you were able to celebrate with joy on Easter Day? Over the week that led us up to Easter Day we had a good number of people through our doors, and it was good to see children coming into church too. Easter is, of course, the highest point of the Christian calendar when we celebrate the risen Lord Jesus.

Easter is the first major Bank Holiday of the year, and it always sems to me to be the turning point both in the calendar and in terms of spring and summer. Over the next couple of days, the weather forecast says we will see temperatures into the twenties degrees Celsius! That truly is a sign of summer, and for a change it is while the children are on holiday from school. So often we are disappointed by the weather; just when we are able to take advantage of the sunshine – it rains!

Whatever the weather may be doing, we can really celebrate the rising of Jesus from the dead, by eating our Easter Eggs and giving thanks to God for everything Jesus achieved through his death and resurrection. If you have never experienced worship in our churches of the benefice before, then I invite you to come and give it a try. A warm welcome awaits you and usually a cup of tea and a piece of cake – especially at our Café Church services which are less formal, as are our family services. We have a talented team of people who are capable of leading worship in a way that is open to all people – children and adults alike. All the details can be found in the Riversmeet Recorder which is distributed around the villages of our Benefice, and if you haven’t seen a copy, let us know and we can email you a copy. I look forward to seeing you or hearing from you.

I wish you God’s love and peace for this Easter Season
