It has been six years almost to the day, (21 March 2020 was the first one) since I started writing these messages on a weekly basis. Apart from holidays and special occasions, I have written a message to all who read them every week – this is number 291! It doesn’t seem that long; but, of course, time passes very quickly, especially as we are all now six years older. How the world has changed in those six years; from the end of Covid – we are still feeling the effects – to the war in and around Iran.
There are very few things that are constant in this world, as there are lots of things that are moving forward at a rapid pace, mainly because of the progress of technology and the advancement taking place in science and medicine. On Sunday – which in the church we call Passion Sunday – we are starting to turn our minds to the season of Easter. Before then, we commemorate and contemplate the Palm Sunday Procession, and Jesus’ arrest and trial before his crucifixion. It is the most important time in the Christian calendar, because our belief is that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died in love for everyone so that all the wrongs we do may be forgiven and that we might have a closer relationship with our Creator God.
As you make all your preparations for the Easter celebration, I hope that you will keep in mind the pain and suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ as he was ridiculed, beaten and crucified. It is through his sacrifice that we have Easter and celebrate his resurrection with joy and thanksgiving.
I wish you God’s love and peace.
