Graham’s Weekly Message

With Lent upon us, are you finding it difficult to find time and a quiet space for reflection? We live in a world where everything moves at a great pace; messages and emails go to and fro, demanding answer upon answer to numerous questions and requests. It is one of those times when we need to make an effort to find the space we need; it just doesn’t happen. We all have our routines which we don’t like to be disrupted, so to squeeze in an extra item during the day is never easy.

Personally, I like to fit anything in either at the beginning or at the end of the day; but that doesn’t suit everybody. As we gallop through the weeks coming up to Easter, it seems that there is hardly any time at all, with the Lent course, Messy Church and all the other events that we put on during this season. The season is completed as we enter Holy Week, preceded by Palm Sunday, and at the end we have the greatest celebration of the church on Easter Day.

During the next few weeks, in this time of reflection, self-examination and self-denial, I hope that we can find some time and space to carry out all of those things, so that we can become better citizens and followers of Jesus Christ. It won’t be easy to find that time, but I hope that you will endeavour to do so, and because of that you will be able to celebrate Easter with greater joy.

I wish you God’s love and peace.
