Graham’s Weekly Message

When I go out in the dark evenings, I usually carry a torch of some kind if I am walking to my appointment or meeting, and I don’t always rely on the torch built into my mobile telephone – although that is very useful. I suppose it is for safety reasons when you don’t know what you may come across on the path or in the street! I can remember as a child always going out with a torch as there were no mobile telephones and very few street lights in Cardington.

There are times in life when we need some guidance as we make decisions that will affect the way that we live. There are a lot of helplines for many different things when it comes to filling in forms, by hand or on-line, and we need to make the most of them – forms can be very confusing and not always straightforward.

There is a verse in Psalm 119 in the Bible which I have always found to be of comfort: verse 105 says, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light to my path”. In the darkest times of our lives and when we might feel bewildered by all that is happening around the world, it is good to turn to this verse to obtain reassurance and comfort as we face the many challenges that we encounter. I hope that you too might turn to the reassuring words from the Bible – verses like the one I have mentioned above. It is good to know that we are not alone in facing all that the world throws at us.

May I wish you God’s blessing
