Graham’s Weekly Message

I wish I could read his thoughts! I suppose it could be any number of things: “where did that come from?” to “do you think it is cold enough to drink now?”

Or perhaps (if the can is empty) “I wonder if there is a trapped fish in there?” Close to where this photograph was taken there were large amounts of rubbish left by those who had made use of The Trap down by the river over the Bank Holiday weekend. Some of the rubbish was bagged up but then left and not placed in the empty bins just close by. I wish that people would take a little bit more care of their surroundings and keep the country clean, tidy and safe for future generations.

We will soon be at the time in our churches when we celebrate the harvest and all that the earth gives us through its resources. I know that over recent times we have learned a few lessons about protecting the earth’s resources and slowly we are putting things right by the efforts of conservation: renewable energy sources and replanting areas of forest; but we still have a long way to go to achieve the necessary targets that will allow the earth to replenish that which we have taken from it.

We have much to give thanks for: in what we have to use for living and in what the rest of creation needs; to lose all of that would be a tragedy for the whole of humankind. I pray that we will continue to learn and use the knowledge we have to keep the earth in good condition so that every year we can celebrate harvest with a clear conscience.

May I wish you God’s blessings
