Graham’s Weekly Message

The school summer holidays are now about halfway through, and it doesn’t seem possible that in about three weeks the children will be back to school. As a child I used to think that the summer holidays went on for ever, but as I grew older the holidays seemed to be shorter and shorter, and then when I started work the two-week factory shutdown in the summer was very short.

As they say, when you get older time appears to fly by very quickly! As year follows year, our lives are passing by very quickly, and there never seems enough time to fit everything in that we would like to achieve during our own lifetime. It is something that I encounter most weeks as I meet with people at various times in their lives – either at the beginning or the end, and sometimes in the middle.

In the busyness of your life, I hope that you may find time to include God in your everyday living. In our churches on Sunday, we were thinking about the generosity of God, and all that he wants to give to us so freely. He offers us his love, care and protection through the power of the Holy Spirit, as we travel the paths of this life. I was listening the other day to a speech by Dame Patricia Routledge, who was saying that life is full of choices, and our choices whether it be those that work or those that don’t, make us who we are and who we become. I never ever thought that I would one day become one of God’s ministers, but the choices I made brought me to this point in my life. I pray that you may make the choice to follow God and his ways.

May I wish you God’s blessings
