We have seen some welcome rain over the last couple of days, but of course it is not enough to counteract the amount of dry weather we have experienced over the last few weeks. It will take a lot more rain to fall to bring back the greenness to the fields and gardens. We rely so much on the rain for our crops to flourish, grow and be prepared for the seasonal harvest. It is also important that we can keep our own bodies hydrated in the warm weather, as we too can be harmed by the lack of liquid in our wonderfully created bodies.
It is also true that we need to keep our inner selves refreshed, renewed and fed with the spiritual food we need. We hear a lot of reports about depression in our news, and sometimes it is difficult to keep our souls “hydrated” with all that is going on around us. The pressures of life seem to hover around us whichever way we turn; this is also something that needs our attention in order for us to live a comfortable life. It is even more difficult for those who have limited or no resources with which to find comfort.
It is important that we keep an eye on those in our communities who need our support as they find life tough and oppressive. It is also important that we consider ourselves and the spiritual food we need, and therefore to feed on the things that will keep our hearts and minds in good condition. Having a faith enables us to draw on the spiritual resources that God provides in order to live a life that follows God’s ways. I hope that as you live day to day you may draw on the spiritual resources that you can find through a faith in Jesus Christ, and follow his ways through prayer and study of the scriptures.
May I wish you God’s blessings.
