Graham’s Weekly Message

I hope you have been enjoying the sunshine, it makes a change to have such lovely weather – and during the school holidays too! It will be nice for children to be able to be outside during the sunny days, and not have to be stuck inside on their screens. I know that we rely on technology, and it provides us with many good things such as being able to access large amounts of data, as well as numerous entertainment possibilities. But we mustn’t be complacent and ignore the possibility of connecting with our natural world. We have inherited from previous generations a world given to us by our Creator God. There is much pleasure to be gained by observing the wonders of our natural world, but also, we have a duty to preserve it for generations to come.

As we enter into the season of Palm Sunday and Easter, we think of re-birth, spring, and resurrection. The whole of the Easter celebration revolves around the theme of resurrection as we celebrate Jesus’ rising from the dead on Easter Day. It is, without doubt, the most important celebration of the Christian calendar, for without that event the rest would be worthless. A belief in Jesus Christ is central to the rest of our beliefs, and to follow a dead God would be pointless. The Easter celebration reminds us that Christ triumphed over death – that is a certainty for eternity, and whatever comes and goes in this world, that one certainty will support us through all the highs and lows that the world throws at us. Come and help us worship on Easter Sunday the God who has sacrificed everything for us that we might have resurrection and new life within ourselves.

With God’s love and blessings.
