It must be spring now! Walking in the beautiful sunshine and clear blue skies was a real treat last Monday. Daffodils were flowering everywhere you looked and as you can see from the photograph, the sheep and lambs were in the field enjoying the warmth and eating the green grass. It was a pleasure hearing the birds sing and the larger birds wheeling around in the sky. I am hoping that we have seen the last of the frost, and that from now on we will experience only warmth and sunshine. Of course this is England, and who knows what will happen in terms of the weather – we do seem to have an obsession with our weather!

The unpredictability of the weather causes us much consternation; but life is full of surprises, not least with the weather. However there was an absolute certainty that Jesus would die on the cross, on what we commemorate as Good Friday. There are references all through the Old Testament and even Jesus himself spoke of what would happen, but it seems that both the people of the Old Testament and the people who heard Jesus speak did not understand what God was trying to tell them.
It was all part of God’s plan that Jesus would be the ultimate sacrifice, paying the price for our sins, enabling the restoration of our relationship with God. There are many who believe there is a God, but are uncertain how to make that connection. Jesus came in order to mend that broken bridge and it is through prayer and study that we are able to restore that link with our Creator. If you would like to talk to me or anyone in our churches, we would love to speak to you about renewing your link with God and his Son Jesus.
With God’s love and blessings this Lenten time.
