Graham’s Weekly Message

What contrasts we are having in the weather this year, from the very hot to the very wet! My picture below shows “The Trap” at Blunham, after the worst of the weather, but still the Ivel is in flood – notice the blue sky in the background! Just after I took this photograph, the heavens opened once again and I got caught in a very heavy shower – I hope you haven’t been caught out by the flooding.

Life can be like that sometimes, we seem to go from one extreme to the other. I wonder what people were thinking when Noah started to build the Ark? They most probably thought he was mad, but he knew otherwise and was only doing what he had been commanded by God. In his mind what God said was the truth, and who was he to argue!

Just recently in church we have been thinking about vocations, and how we might serve God and his church. Most people think of a vocation in the church to be ordained ministry, but there are many different types of vocation: working with children, music, hospitality etc. We do need leaders of worship and preachers, but equally we need people to complete all the other tasks that enable the church to function at its best.

We are always looking for people to help out in many different ways; maybe you have been thinking about it recently, and don’t know how to explore your thoughts and offer in some way to help in the church – you can always talk to me or our Curate Revd Christopher Scott. We all have been given gifts and talents and perhaps there is a vocation waiting for you in God’s church. I urge you to think about it and to discover where God may be calling you to serve.

With love, prayers and God’s blessing.
