Revd Graham’s weekly message:
I have mentioned before that there are many privileges to being your priest in the benefice, and one of them is being able to visit the three schools to lead collective worship. It is an honour to be part of their education, however insignificant it may seem in the bigger scheme of things. However, as with all things, the younger they start to learn the better.
I heard an interview recently about a dancer who started dancing at the age of three, and through many years of hard work and practice they became a worldclass dancer at an early age. I hope that by my going into the schools the children are able to learn about the Christian faith, and that through personal study they may be able to discover a personal faith in later years.
I sometimes recall at services of Baptism, that I was baptised in my twenties. I was born and nurtured in a Christian family, for which I will be forever grateful, and that has given me a foundation that will stay with me. As I have said before, it is never too late to learn about Christian values, and try to live by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Along with reading and study, we meet together as disciples on Sundays to worship God and to learn more about his ways – you would be most welcome to join us, if you want to discover more about the church and how we follow Jesus’ teaching as found in the Bible.
This Sunday we will gather together as the four churches of our Benefice in Blunham at 11am to celebrate our patron saint St Edmund. The service will take the form of Café Church; this is a style of worship that is a little less traditional, and we serve refreshments of tea/coffee along with croissants and cake before the service begins! It would lovely to have you join us in this celebration.
With God’s peace and blessing
